#84 TUESDAY SCOOP... 5 hot drinks I feel better sipping on
Give your coffee break some extra love...
1/ The DIRTEA Mushroom Coffee with Lion's Mane has been a diehard favourite of mine for some time. It blends 100% arabica beans with lion’s mane mushroom extract and an organic B vitamin complex, in a concoction that’s purported to elevate energy and sustain it without the usual crashes (which, anecdotally speaking, I concur)…
2/ I’m a huge fan of decaffeinated coffee (even before I wrote this Women’s Health piece charting its resurgence). The caffeine is removed from the 100% arabica beans of EXHALE Organic Decaf using a water-based process in the glaciers of Mexico (in contrast to many varieties which enlist a problematic chemical method)…
3/ Love a hot chocolate? The Ancient + Brave Cacao + Collagen Powder is a less sugary, but still indulgent, option to cosy up with. It contains raw South American cacao fused with hydrolysed bovine collagen peptides as part of a formula they claim will ‘nourish’ skin and ‘balance’ the mind. I love how it is already divided out into transportable individual sachets, which are ideal if you’re taking them into the office to drink…
5/ I hadn’t realised before coming across Balance that 85% of coffee worldwide is sprayed with pesticides and stored in a way that encourages mould growth (which doesn’t brew good health). Their Level Up Blend—toxin-free like the rest of their offering—is made from Colombian and Brazilian beans and comes in a variety of flavours, such as strawberry, cream and chocolate…

'Exhale' coffee is also promoted by those who know about the dangers of mouldy coffee in the nutritional/functional health arena. Exhale's site says this "We also keep out the bad and our organic coffee also independently tested to be free from moulds, mycotoxins, pesticides and other nasties". Mycotoxins are a huge health issue, an inconvenient truth...... so swept under the carpet, because mould is so ubiquitous that it's difficult to know where to start wrt remediating it.
