#88 TUESDAY SCOOP... 5 things helping me sleep right now
IMO, you don't need a 'morning shed' to catch those Zzz at night...
1/ I’ve been taking magnesium supplements for years (far longer than it has been trendy) after it was identified I might be in need of a top-up of the important mineral, and I’m adamant I can still feel the difference in terms of my ability to nod off and how refreshed I feel upon waking. This Nutravita Magnesium Glycinate is the exact one I’m taking and loving right now, but regular TUESDAY SCOOP… readers will also know I rate Heights Magnesium⁺ too…
2/ Morphée is a genius little device that I came across while researching the best white noise machines for Woman & Home. The straightforward screen-free sleep aid (if you’re trying to avoid blue light in the hours before lights out) is controlled by three golden keys, that allow you to choose between more than 200 soundtracks—including relaxing music and body scan meditations—to help you wind down in your PJs. What’s more, it looks seriously chic on a bedside table…
3/ Light keeping you up? Rather than the expense of blackout curtains or blinds, a really good-quality sleep mask may be a more economical solution (and one you can also transport with you when away). The DROWSY Silk Sleep Mask does the job with aplomb, being so indulgently sizeable and secure that you’ll be drifting off in no time—and its pure mulberry silk material also won’t mess with your PM skincare routine…
4/ If you’re anything like me, while a mask might be necessary to fall asleep, it’s eventually slipped off by the time I need to wake up—which is just as well since an artificial ‘sunrise’ is my favourite way to stir, as longtime Well, Actually… subscribers will know. Fast forward to the evening, and I adore using the slowly dimming ‘sunset’ setting on my Lumie Bodyclock Luxe to signal to my body that snooze-time is calling…
5/ You’ll have heard it before, but an effective bedtime routine begins in the day. If I’m on my best behaviour, I’ll swap out that second daily coffee for a mug of matcha, which is lower in caffeine. Now, some powders on the market are poor-quality (and are effectively a scam in terms of health benefits) but I really rate Dirtea Matcha, and another on my list to try is OMGTEA (a go-to for Rhiannon Lambert and Ella Mills, as revealed on their brilliant Wellness Scoop podcast)…
On a final note, I’d love your help—I rarely have an issue falling asleep due to noise, however I know that some newsletter readers certainly do. A friend of mine was recently quoted an eye-watering amount for sound-absorbing ‘acoustic curtains’. Does anyone have other, more affordable recommendations for blocking out the audio of urban life? Including any earplugs they particularly rate? Would be great to share in a future TUESDAY SCOOP…

The eye mask really helps!
